Moving off Jira Data Center.
Atlassian has set an end-of-life date for Data Center. If your team chose to host Jira itself, ShipLean is a planning tool you can host yourself too, and it brings your Jira history with it.
What Atlassian has announced.
These are Atlassian’s dates, taken from their end-of-life notice. Check it for the products and the detail that apply to you.
- 30 March 2026: new customers can no longer buy Data Center subscriptions.
- 30 March 2028: existing customers can no longer buy new subscriptions, Marketplace apps or expansions.
- 28 March 2029: end of life for the affected Data Center products, including Jira Software Data Center. Support and critical security fixes continue until then.
A tool that stays on your side of the firewall.
Your data stays on your infrastructure
You chose on-prem on purpose. ShipLean runs on your own server, so your backlog and its history stay where you put them.
No per-seat cloud bill
ShipLean will be free and open source. Adding a team does not change what you pay.
Ready for agents
Your agents work the same backlog as your people over MCP, with access you approve and can revoke.
Your history comes with you.
A Data Center project has years of work in it. ShipLean imports a Jira project with its history, comments and sprints, so reports and past sprints still make sense on day one.
Before anything is written, you review how issue types, statuses and users will map. Your Jira stays exactly as it was, so you can compare the two and take your time.
Take your time.
Your Jira stays as it is.
ShipLean is coming soon. Follow the project on GitHub to hear when it is ready to install.
